Sailing in Greece is perfect when you are in the Ionian Islands. Ionian Islands is a group of islands located in the western portion of Greece. It is perfectly situated along the Ionian Sea on the coasts of Peloponnesus and Epirus. Its major islands are Paxos, Cythera, Ithaca, Lefkas, Zacynthus, Cephalonia, and Corfu. The islands first inhabitants were the Old Greeks. They first occupied the islands probably near the beginning of the 9th or 10th century BC. Yet, it was later ruled by other western civilizations. Among them are the Roman (146 BC), Byzantium (300 AD), and the Venetian Empires (1204 AD). Subsequently, before it was acquired by Greece in 1864 and claimed the island as part of the country’s official territory, the island was earlier yielded to other countries. These include France (1807), Russia (1799), Turkey (1799), and the United Kingdom (1815).

Ionian Islands is also recognized as Eptanisa or the Seven Islands because of its 7 major islands. Because of its mild climate and nice ports, it became one of Greece’s most visited yacht charter areas along the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

When you are cruising in Greece, it is very common to see gulet motorsailers, yachts, flotillas, and bareboats. If you are taking your holiday with your kids or the whole family, sailing in Ionian Islands is ideal for you. This is because the islands has calm seas and gentle winds. Travelers who are not excperienced in sailing can also enjoy the islands perfect climate.

Sailing in Greece through the Ionian Islands is an ideal holiday vacation. The islands has several harbors and docks that can be used as a charter base. Preveza, Corfu, and Lefkas are Ionian Islands 3 yacht charter bases. From these 3 ports, the most visited and admired is the Lefkas harbor. Lefkas is characterized by its apt Mediterranean climate and interesting trekked mountains. Furthermore, its beaches have golden sand and full-size waves. Lefkas’ most beautiful beaches include Perigiali, Nikiana, and Nidri.

On the other hand, some sailing tourists favor the Preveza port. It is located along the Amvrakia Gulf. The port is distinguished by its sturdy crosscurrent.

So the next time you are sailing in Greece, do not forget to spend your holiday vacation in Ionian Islands. It has all you wanted – a great retreat that is ideal for you and your whole family.

There is no doubt that Greece is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. -The Jewel of Mediterranean- ,as it has been previously called has the tenth longest coastline in the world at 14,880 km (9,246 mi) in length, featuring an enormous number of islands (approximately 1400, of which only 227 are inhabited). Millions of tourists visit Greece every year(mostly during the summer months) and leave the country with many wonderful memories that are hard to forget. I am convinced that any traveler that has visited Greece will surely tell you about the natural beauty of the country and about its rich cultural background. Most travelers visit the Greek Islands because they combine all the assets mentioned above plus they have wonderful beaches where the traveler can enjoy swimming.

    >

There are many ways that a traveler can access the Greek islands. He can either go there by air(most major Greek Islands have airports) or by sea. Although the idea of traveling by plane can be rather tempting and comfortable it can also be rather expensive. Moreover another good idea is taking a cruise to the Greek islands however it can also be rather expensive and does not give you the freedom to explore the Greek islands by yourself. In my opinion the most enjoyable way to travel through Greek islands is by ferry. Traveling by ferry is most suitable for the kind of traveler that loves the sea and considers ferries as part of his holiday. These people are the lucky ones who can treat a long ferry journey as a fun thing to do, rather than a business traveler who just wants to get to his destination as quick as possible.

The ferries in Greece are modern, fast and comfortable.

No matter in which way you decide to visit Greece and regardless of the time of the year Greece surely give you some unforgettable experiences…

Barcelona is known worldwide for its amazing nightlife (hundreds of bars, clubs and discos) and the wonderful cultural attractions. But another feature makes it even more unique: the beaches located just close to the city.

The city offers 4 km of good quality beaches, and sometimes the water is better than many other famous places both in Italy and Europe. Quite honestly, it is impossible to expect Caribbean beaches in Barcelona: the city holds 3 million inhabitants and is a lively, modern metropolis; as a result it is safe to say the beaches dont escape at least a bit of pollution, as to be expected.

The area that hosts almost all the beaches is the area of Barceloneta. Not so far from here lies the beach of Sant Sebasti, equipped with many showers, different services, assistance, tourist information and medical relief.
But the main (and most famous) beach of the area is known as Barceloneta and hosts a lot of comfortable appartamenti a Barcellona. This beach is also known because of the work of Rebecca Horn which stands right in the middle of the area. Both these two stretches of coastline can be reached by metro with the yellow line (L4), stopping at Barceloneta or Ciutadella.

Lovers of the naturist sea can find a space dedicated to their relaxation. The beach of Mar Bella is, in fact, the section devoted to this type of practice. The metro station, still yellow line, is Selva del Mar and from there is necessary a small one quarter of an hour walk. This stretch of coast is actually marked as a nudist naturist beach but actually we do not see many.

Coming down towards the Olympic City you can meet Nova Icria beach, characterized by many bars, restaurants and discos. Lovers of cycling, skating or jogging can not miss the beautiful promenade of Bogatell. The beach is very wide and the seafront boulevard gives the best of itself with the beautiful days of summer sun.

But between Barcelona beaches there is another one more beautiful (and less popular). Nova Mar Bella is, in fact, the stretch most characteristic and perhaps a little less touristy since it is not easily reachable.

In short, a summer holiday in the city can also include relaxing breaks at the sea. Book your Barcellona hotel or choose between the range of Barcellona appartamenti. After this you can start planning your vacation in the capital of Catalonia. It is difficult to choose between monuments, nightlife and beaches.

When exploring Caribbean Islands, one of many interesting facets of the culture are the different languages of the Caribbean Islands which are spoken. After you listen to English spoken there, it’s not American or of Great Britain dialects, but it has a unique accent that is definitely extremely charming to listen to. It definitely illustrates the diversity of the cultural background, and a history of the Caribbean that is intriguing and complex.

You will find four official languages voiced within the Caribbean. However in addition there are a number of creoles and local patois (hybrid languages). A large number of the Creole languages of the Caribbean Islands are typically used for inter-ethnic communication. When looking at the different languages of the Caribbean, the four main languages are:

Spanish (the earliest European language introduced and covers West and Central Caribbean)

Dutch (on those islands of the Wonderland Antilles)

    English (North, Central and East)

    French (Central and East)

In addition, there are several additional lesser native languages. Some of the local languages have grown extinct or are dying out.

Within the Caribbean, the official language is generally determined by which ever colonial power (England, Spain, France, or the Netherlands) held sway on the island originally or longest. English would be the first or second language in many Caribbean islands in addition to being the unofficial “language of tourism”. It’s the state language of Anguilla, Antigua, the Bahamas, Barbados the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Croix, St. John St. Kitts, and St. Thomas.

Spanish is the language voiced by the majority of individuals, as it is the state language of the two largest islands, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, as well as sharing English as the official language of Puerto Rico and Trinidad/Tobago.

French is spoken in Haiti, Martinique, and Guadeloupe, and St. Martin.

Dutch is the official language of Curacao, St Maarten, and two very small islands.

People who speak different languages of the Caribbean Islands dialects, which might be called Patois or Creole, speak a language that consists of an amalgamation between European English, Spanish, French, Dutch and African languages. That said, tourists end up finding themselves richly rewarded after they hear a ‘native language’ voiced, often a Creole is used as the domestic language.

Right after obtaining independence, several Caribbean countries, in searching for national unity, decided on one language (usually the former colonial language) to be used in government and education. Recently, Caribbean countries have become more and more mindful of the significance of linguistic diversity. Language policies that are becoming developed today are pretty much targeted at multilingualism.
