Compare for a moment a beach holiday with a ski holiday. The first is all about lying under the sun and doing practically nothing, whereas the latter is taking advantage of as much light as possible by skiing, walking and snowboarding and other activities that require a lot of energy. Besides, a cold environment makes the body burn more calories.

This of course does not mean that we are allowed to forget our good weight loss habits. On the contrary, it is important to be even more careful, because when we get carried away it is easy to forget how to eat properly.

If you are about to leave for your ski resort, for the whole week or just for the weekend, it is important to know how to eat. In this article I will point out a few tips to follow during your winter holiday.

First of all: forget about drinking alcohol to protect yourself from the cold, it is just a myth and a dangerous one indeed. If you feel warmer after your shot of whiskey or grappa, it is probably because of the bar you are sitting in. Since alcohol is a vasoconstrictor, the effect will be exactly the opposite: you will feel cold.

Do not forget the proteins: in a cold environment our body instinctively craves for carbohydrates, forgetting about proteins, which are essential to keep a good muscular integrity.

If you do not want to waste time in the restaurant at lunch, have several small meals during the day, rather than a proper lunch; bring some energy bars with you.

Speaking of bars, be careful with chocolate. It is true that it gives a lot of energy (about 550 Kcal for 100g), but unless you are planning an Arctic crossing, walking 12 hours per day, lower calories bars, with yogurt or muesli are a better choice.

If you have to sit down and have a proper lunch, stay away from fat foods. It is not hard to find them in a mountain resort, but the myth around them is that they will give you more energy, and make you warmer, but in fact they will just slow down your digestion and make your skiing in the afternoon harder. And of course leave alcohol for after dinner.

Even if your lunch was light, always wait one hour before going back to the ski run.

At dinner, if you had carbohydrates for lunch, balance them with proteins.

    Now go have fun!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, An Ideal Hotspot for Winter Vacations

Here at Serenity Vacations, we are excited to bring you this article about one of our favorite winter time vacation destinations, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!

    PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

This Mexican seaside paradise has something special for everyone, with a wide variety of attractions and entertainment options. There are cultural events and exhibits, exciting day trips to the jungle, relaxing days at the beach, and countless romantic hideaways to explore. Immeasurable activities, both on and off the water, will keep you entertained until it is sadly time to depart. Night life abounds with many popular night clubs and an array of quality restaurants to please even the most discriminating palette. Puerto Vallarta is yours to savor.

Well known as one of the friendliest and most diverse beach destinations in the world, it is also the most well-kept beach area in all of Mexico. Now a world-class modern destination, it still has retained most of the quaint charms of the original fishing village it once was. The cobblestone streets and bell tower architecture are part of the mystery and romance of the scenery. Donkeys are still used for delivery in many parts of this unique city, and many of the crafts available here are made by local Indians using the same methods for hundreds of years.

This area enjoys over 300 sunny days a year; and with temperatures averaging right around 83 degrees, its perfect for the seemingly endless number of beautiful beaches. Choose from wide-open soft, white, sand beaches to picturesque rock surrounded coves. The most popular beach is Los Muertos, just south of the Rio Cuale, in Old Town. Weekends at this beach are fantastic. The beaches just north, on the road to Punta de Mita, are full of quaint beachside restaurants featuring an array of delicious fresh seafood. The southern beaches, like their northern partners, are beautiful and usually much less crowded.

When youre here, make sure to charter a “Pangas” to go fishing. Almost everyone will catch something. The waters are abundant with sailfish all year long and other species more seasonal. Or if serious shopping is your game, this area is a dream come true. There are specialty shops galore lining virtually every street in the downtown area (where English is widely spoken). There are outdoor markets, flea markets, shopping centers, small indoor centers, and everything in between.

Serenity Vacations is happy to provide this information and if you have any questions feel free to visit our website by going to www.serenityvacationsblog.com.

In recent years, the breakout of some pandemic flus, such as SARS and H1N1 flu, get many travellers into panic. Health problems have become the top concern on travel. Travellers are likely to get infected with flus through journey, as it is avalable for virus to spread in closed passenger cabins of vehicles and hotel rooms. Are there any tips that can reduce the risk of getting flus?

First, make sure to clean your hands as soon as possible. On the journey road, it can not be avoided to touch some public used items, such as books and cups on the planes, pillows and covers in hotels, etc. Though most public items have been sterilized before sent to next customer, it’s still possible that some items may be left for some reasons. And you may get the virus left by the former user if he was ill. Do not touch your faces or eat anything until you wash your hands well. You’d better take some sterilized soaps with you, they can help kill flu virus before it get access to your body.

Second, Take a sanitary facial mask with you. You are advised to wear it when you stay in crowded public places, like vehicles, stations or shops. It may keep you away from some pandemics, for many flu virus get into human bodies through close contact with those who get ill. However, it cannot be seen as perfect flu shields. If you had any health problems on the journey, you’d better go to see a local doctor, for some medical treatment should not be delayed, like flus.

Last but not least, keep a good work and rest schedule. You’d better keep your own daily schedule on travels. Over-exhaust make your immunity system get worse, which are accessible to flu virus.

All in all, it’s necessary to take some health precautions for travelling, which can keep you away from flus and other illness.

Boca Raton is known for the breathtaking beauty of its beaches. Their beauty, quietness and natural setting make these three beaches the jewels in Boca Ratons crown.

    Spanish River Park
The locals love Spanish River Park for its variety of activities. Whether going for a weekend outing or a lunchtime picnic, the park is a comfortable place to spend a few hours. The area has grills, rest room facilities, and a playground.
The water on both sides Spanish River Park make it a unique place to visit. The park is named for the shallow freshwater stream that once flowed on the western edge of the park where the Army Corps of Engineers created a channel, joining the area with the rest of the Intracoastal Waterway. From the western side, visitors can walk through the long tunnel that goes under Route A1A to enjoy the ocean and beach on the east. Visitors come for swimming, fishing, nature walks, bird watching and picnicking.

    Red Reef Park

A beautiful city nestled on Costa Brava, Lloret de Mar has access to some of the region’s most pristine beaches the largest of which, Lloret Beach, has been awarded the the Blue Flag award for cleanliness. People from all over Europe travel via Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, making it a must-see tourist hotspot for anyone looking to spend time in the sun and on the sand.

There are many coves, inlets, and stretches of sand which make up the area’s variety of beaches; with easy access from the airport in Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, these beaches have become major destinations for young people from places like Denmark, France, the UK, the rest of Portugal, and even as far away as America and Australia. This article will talk about some of the beaches in the area and where you might find them.

    Lloret

The most popular beach in the area, and the beach from which the town gets its name, is Lloret Beach, located right off the main city centre. This beautiful sandy coastline is almost 1.5 km long and is popular with both locals and tourists. During peak season, this beach is completely packed with sunbathers, swimmers, and people playing beach sports. This is definitely the place to see and be seen, and people travel from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar to be amongst the sunbathers on these sands.

    Fenals

Fenals is the second longest beach, measuring just over 800 metres long. It is a bit more secluded when compared to Lloret Beach and is separated from it by a large massif, which creates a buffer from the wind and the city noise. However it still offers glimpses of the high buildings through the trees.

    Santa Cristina

If you want something a little more removed, but still easily accessible, check out Santa Cristina beach. A calm cove is created by two high hills on either side on one of them is Santa Cristina chapel, from which you can access the beach by taking the little pathway from the left side of the church and following it down to the sand. Once you’re there, you’ll be treated to soft bird songs and gentle waves. Though less popular with locals and people travelling from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, it’s still a great beach to visit.

    Canyelles

One of the farthest beaches from the town centre is Canyelles Beach. This beach is covered in the soft white sand that is typical of Costa Brava, and the high hills surrounding the beach itself are covered in pine trees. This creates the illusion of remoteness that makes for a very relaxing place to spend an afternoon. Access to this beach is easy. On the road that leads to Tossa de Mar, there’s a pathway on the right side that descends down onto the beach – but be careful because it’s easy to miss.

Okay we ate to much. Junked out on sweets. Had a week maybe two of enjoying all those holiday foods we only make for holidays. So what now? Feeling tired, a little fatter then before, yeah, now we start rethinking about those diets and watching what we eat. Welcome back to reality!

Lets be smart about how we go about it. Don’t hit the gym hot and heavy. Work at a little slower pace, ease into it. Its known that if you have a weight issue that cutting back on the snacks an extra sugars will help you feel less bloated.

Make yourself drink plenty of water to help flush your system out. Plan ahead those meals as we all get back into the work habits of everyday life. If you think you need to diet then be smart and set reasonable goal for yourself. Cut back on your calorie intact and do some exercise.

I’m by far not an expert on diet or exercise either. But as an average person I do know and I do watch what I eat. I never miss a meal but watch what size portions I have and try to exercise a little every day. Funny studies show that people who keep food diaries tend to lose more weight and keep it off longer than those who don’t.

Now is because maybe they are more intense on losing that weight and keeping off or have less time to eat? I think although it might be true, you have to have the right reasons and mind set to do it. That’s no difference than life is.

Over the month of January I will post a few simple easy to fix type meals for those that just don’t have the time to eat a well balanced meal. Like all at the beginning of a new year things seem to take a mind of their own. Here’s to good health from Back to my Kitchen

Located at the northern part of the Hutchinson Island in Florida, the U.S. Navy SEAL Museum is nestled at the original place where the Frogmen underwent their training back in the early 1940s. The Navy SEAL Museum is dedicated to the elite group of the Naval Special Warfare, the only one in the whole world.

    How It Started

The U.S. Navy Frogmen, the original name given to the Navy SEALs, were born and came to existence at Fort Pierce, Florida, where the National Navy SEAL Museum now stands. The U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Teams and the U.S. Naval Combat Demolition Units were composed primarily of brave volunteers for the Second World War.

It was in November 1985 when the Navy SEAL Museum was formally dedicated to the elite group of the U.S. Special Operations Forces. Thereafter, an endless number of artifacts have continuously been sent to Fort Pierce.

    What You Will Find

The Navy SEAL Museum provides a good venue for people to learn more about the history of the Naval Special Warfare. Inside the Navy SEAL Museum, one will be able to discover the beginnings of the Underwater Demolition Team, learn about their exploits in the Second World War, and understand more about the Navy SEALs by way of the artifacts and the many photographs displayed in the museum.

Outside, one will feel nostalgic seeing various modes of transportations that have been used by the Navy SEALs. A helicopter, two-man submarines, and patrol boats are artfully displayed outside the museum. The vehicle’s story can be read on a statue that stands on each of them.

Inside, one will be greeted by a volunteer, who could be a retired SEAL, a retired Frogman, or a spouse of a Frogman or a SEAL. The volunteer will serve as your guide in your tour of the museum and will explain every memorabilia on display.

    The Museum Store

Like the usual museum, the Navy SEAL Museum also has a shop for us navy seals visitors where they can purchase their choice of SEAL souvenirs such as a pin, a cap, or a book. Tactical gear like backpacks, gloves, bags, and holsters can likewise be bought at the Navy SEAL Museum store.

U.S. Navy SEAL shirts, polos, cammies, and other tactical apparel (ideally for souvenir purposes) are available at the museum shop. Items are moderately priced, and the museum also accepts donations for it maintenance. Also, for a $100 donation, one can make his name part of the great Navy SEAL history with his own memorial brick being used nowhere else but within the grounds of the museum.

About the Author: This Article is written by James Kara Murat from USNavySealStore.com, the contributor of Navy Seal Store. More information on the subject is at A Tour of the Navy SEAL Museum, and related resources can be found at navy seal workout.
